There are various different types of yoga, some more advanced than others, but all work towards the same goal. That is, they all seek to unify the mind, spirit, and body; and to increase strength and flexibility. Asanas, or physical postures, are emphasized when the body is out of shape, in need of healing, or not flexible enough. The different styles of yoga, however, approach the practice of asanas in individual ways.
Hatha is a gentle form that focuses on basic postures and breathing techniques. Sometimes described as similar to a slow walk, while working on toning, strength building and flexiblity. Great for beginners, intermediates looking for a stress relief practice, women and seniors new to yoga or coming back to their practice. A more intermediate class in the Gentle Category.
Vinyasa is for you if you are a multitaskers and interested in losing weight, toning, building flexibility, strengthing in a fast flow linking breath with continuous movement. In this form you can burn 300 calories per hour with the benefit of a warmup and savasana, or cool down and relaxation period at the end of the practice.
Gentle Flow is a form of Hatha. Perfect Class for women recovering from an injury or coming back into their Yoga Practice at an older age. We offer light Hatha poses, some gentle seated Ashtanga postures and a very Gentle Flow of Vinyasa, bringing in Warrior I transition to Warrior II, to gentle Triangle pose. We offer modifications of Sun Salutation A and modifications ranging from Very Gentle to Moderate standing postures. This class is appropriate for pre & postnatal. We suggest you do not take this class if you are new to Yoga and are past your 2nd Trimester. Please get doctor's approval.
Restorative is ideal for finding some peace and tranquility. Sometimes when we are run down we need a gentle way of bringing the body and mind into better harmony. Each class will include a balanced range of gentle yoga poses aimed at physical and emotional health.
Power Yoga is a form of Vinyasa with more advanced poses and faster movement to challenge and deepen your practice. In this class we offer an intermediate form of Vinyasa, fast flow and offer some advanced postures. You do not have to do the poses if they do not feel right for you. In this class you can burn up to 400 calories in and hour. Great for building strength and stamina. Don't forget we believe in "Breath, Stability then Flexability".
