Is Vinyasa Yoga for You?
Vinyasa’s strength is in its diversity. There is no single philosophy, rulebook, or sequence that teachers must follow, so there is a lot of room for individual personalities and quirks to come through. This makes it essential that you find a teacher you enjoy and can relate to. If your first Vinyasa class doesn’t rock your world, keep trying different teachers. If you enjoy having things a little loose and unpredictable and like to move, Vinyasa is probably right for you.
What in the world is Yogalates?
Yoga is an eastern Indian tradition that focuses on strength, flexibility, and spirituality. Pilates was created by German-born Joseph Pilates nearly a century ago. Pilates focuses on building strength in the deep muscles of the abdominal region, the body's core.
Both practices involve attaining specific postures. Both emphasize correct breathing. Both emphasize meditative mindfulness.
Despite the hybrid name, Yogalates "is not gimmicky -- it's built on very tried and true, historically proven forms of exercise,
The point is, does it work? For most people, Yogilates works. This is a system that is less intimidating, more accessible, than either yoga or Pilates alone.
When you discover this blend and when used with additional cardio exercise such as Power or Vinyasa Yoga, walking or running on a regular basis; watching your diet and eating sensibly you will transform your body and your life.
